  1. This video represents how the Allied Command controlled the skies over Normandy and how it gave support to the troops on the ground.

    The Bentcliff Crew was part of several air-based bombing mission to the Normandy area and assisted in Operation: Market Garden as well in Mid September 1944.

    This Commentary was given based on flight logs written by the co-pilot of the Bentcliff Crew, 1st Lt. Charles L. Gempel, who perished on OCt 30, 1944 when their B-24 got caught in a prop wash that made them vulnerable to a flak burst that killed 8 of 11 of the crew.


    The survivors were Capps, Griffin, and Fuller.
